Lately not much has been happening around here. Rather, perhaps too much is going on, on the “life” front. Depends on how one looks at it.
The weather is ridiculously warm and muggy and since returning from our long trip I have found it difficult to return to my sewing machine, or for that matter any sewing type of activity.
What has been going on is a little bit of embroidery…
I am not sure whether others out there feel this way as too, but I have a hard time transitioning from a few weeks of intense sewing machine activity to any kind of hand sewing. And of course the other way around. So that means it takes me forever get into things. And then forever, plus some more, to get out of things. Yes. That is me.
But let me stick to sewing related thoughts here for a minute. Surely any kind of hand sewing is slower and for that reason, relaxing. So others say, and I hear all these lovely people on blogs mention how calming and meditative it is. And it is. I am sure. Except that at times, it feels like I am rushing to get to the part that is calming.
So, here I am, trying to take it easy, and reminding myself to enjoy the process.
And in the “process” noticing other things around me. Like trees, and some lovely plants that are right outside the window where I work.
Yesterday, I finally brought in some of these flowers which come from the Indian cork tree. I think the Kannada name “akasha mallige” (sky jasmine) is nicer. They smell heavenly too, like jasmine but with a touch of added mystery.
And as I sit and work and watch, and try to not obsess about how much is getting done, this is what happens.
Yes, one letter at a time.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
