I have been a bit caught up in a few unexpected things here–guests, colds and such. And so while sewing has been happening, it is with less diligence than what I was hoping for.
I *love love love* these pants. The pattern comes from happy homemade vol. 2. (Oh, and my amazon search just reveals to me that the book is now out in English, but I have no idea how it is.) This is my third pair (I made two last year), and of the many Japanese patterns for pants these are my favourite. It has many many lovely patterns so a great place to begin with Japanese pattern books. These pants have only two patterns pieces, three if you count the pockets. For this pair since I ran out of the fabric. The pockets therefore have a somewhat patchwork look, and I lined them with yellow fabric scraps. The slight flare at the bottom makes them look cool with a touch of the retro. I increased the 110cms length by another 3cms (keeping the rest same) and I have to say: elegant and lovely.N is at the moment not in love with them as much as I am. She tried them on the minute they got done but then complained about the fabric. I think it’s the slightly higher linen content that makes her ticklish: so she says.
Totally lounge worthy; I would like one too! (Here she is drawing pictures on the ipad.)The second pair which she tried after the blue ones (a good thing too because she refused to take it off), is the one that she likes very much. The pattern comes from this book. Again two pattern pieces, with the third for the pocket. I did it in a contrast fabric with a bit of lace. Needless to say, N is quite pleased with the blue.
