As of last week, we are getting in full winter mode. N started wearing two layered pants, which meant tights inside with regular pants on the top. Not that she minds, but it also meant that it was was time for some pants for the colder weather. So yesterday I sewed up the two I cut last week. Here it is. Pant #1
Both come from the same Oliver+S pattern and are in size 5T, but pants #2 looks slightly bigger because I reduced the seam allowance to 3/8″. Actually I made the green ones first and was surprised at how snug the fit was and so decided to make the second pair a bit roomier.
N loves them both. She likes both the feel of corduroy (my first time sewing with this fabric) and the flannel. And the reason why the green ones look so crumpled is because she refused to sit still after she wore them and refused to take them off for me to take pictures of.
So in the end she wore them almost all of yesterday (literally, “after school”) and then some more today. 🙂
In case of both the pants I played a bit with the fabric to add some interest. So the yoke and the pockets are on bias…
And in case of the corduroy, I changed the direction for the bottom panel and the back pockets. Also I lined both pockets with a different fabric (sorry no photos of this).
And can you see this one?All in all I love these pants too. The construction is very clever, the directions excellent as always, and I love the way it has a feel of putting together a jigsaw puzzle. I think soon I am going to be wanting to make more of these.
Ok, this is all from me for today. Tomorrow N and I leave for our short trip to Pune. So I’ll be back on Monday with perhaps something else to show and to announce the winner for the giveaway!
