Hello friends! FINALLY I have some sewing to show you!
I started this blouse right after I got back from Pune (first week of January) and finished it this morning. Right in time for warmer weather, one might say.
Why it took me so long is hard to say. Sadly, I can’t think of anything else but my old habit of procrastination. I did make a small mistake and cut the sleeves wrong, and then in my attempt to rectify them cut the length off a bit too much losing seam/hem allowance in the process.
As a result, the sleeves are a tiny bit shorter.
And because I had chosen the fabric on my own (i.e. without consulting with N first), I chose little heart shaped buttons that I knew she would like (she did!)
The pattern comes from this book; I made it in the 110cms size which now generally seems to be her size. Good thing is that it is a bit on the broad side, which means that for the next few weeks at least she wear layers underneath.
N seems to like it enough to want to wear it. As for me…I am not too sure. The yoke seems too wide for her shoulders, and it doesn’t look like quite how I imagined it from the book.
I am wondering if it is the fabric (cotton, bought locally), and the shorter sleeves….maybe I need to make another one in a more drape-y fabric?
But seriously, I am so glad to be done with this. Somehow this unfinished thing sitting on my desk for the last 7 (?) weeks was like some mental hurdle. Until I finished this, I couldn’t do anything else. And to tell you the truth it was slowly becoming a very tedious project whose pattern and fabric were both beginning to look uninteresting to me. Does that ever happen to you?
But. Now. Done. Hopefully this is a beginning to a new year with lots more sewing…
Thanks for visiting, and see you soon again!
