I am so totally in love with this dress. I started it about a week ago, and while I had to work in small slots of time it’s been a while that I have finished a dress start to finish with no swearing in between. 🙂 Rainy weather has kept N from wearing it and me from taking photos, but I am so glad that she could finally wear it today.
The fabric was her choice (ikat); it has the loveliest drape, and is the most goregous shade of purple with blue and red undertones, which I am afraid my photos don’t quite bring out. The pattern is from Oliver+S, and one that I have wanted to make for a while. I started of with tracing pattern A, but decided to drop the collar at the last minute. Kind of glad I did because I like the simple lines crossing each other. It came together beautifully, as is the case with all Oliver+S patterns. I love them for that.
And the bit of red facing showing is intentional 🙂 I wanted to create a sense of the under lining (worn as a slip under the kimono) to be showing. Looks pretty nice, no?
N’s pretty happy with it, and finally glad to get into frocks. She was in a pretty hilarious mood also when we did this photo shoot (never mind the fact that right after this there were tears….) Oh well, it’s been a while since she has enjoyed posing so much.
More sewing coming up soon, my friends. I hope you are enjoying your sewing too.
