We leave today for Pune–N has holidays before starting a new year at school, and I have one (of the two) teaching days off next week. I had not thought I would finish this before leaving but I did last night and here it is:
She is most excited to be able to wear it for the train journey, and we had a quick photo shoot this morning.
Part of the reason for such love, and the enthusiastic photo shoot is that N had “commissioned” this dress a while ago. As I think I have mentioned before I rarely make things for N anymore without checking with her on the fabric. She loves this Heather Ross print which I got last year, and I wanted to wait for summer to make something….well, summer-y. The facing and “ribbon” is remnants from an old blouse I made for her ages ago. (See! more scraps getting their use 🙂
There she is holding a strawberry in her hand – she was very tickled by the idea that she has one strawberry in her hand and many on her dress 🙂
The pattern as it turns out this time was also her choice. She went through a couple of book and chose this one. It’s called “sleeveless one-piece” and it comes from this Japanese sewing book. I made it in size 110cms. To be honest, I have not had such great luck with this book before (and the yoke in this case too required some fiddling). But overall I had better luck that last time, and I am glad to have made it. I always wanted to try the lace bit around the neck….
All in all, looks like we have a good wearable dress for summer, and right now for the trip. I hope you all have a good week too!
