Since N’s school requires them to wear shirt and pants as ‘uniform’, I can pretty much guarantee that all pants I make (and shirts/blouses….tops) get at least a minimal amount of wear. 🙂 I usually stick to knee length capris or full length pants, but this time around I tried a new pattern…these remind me of the old style pedal pushers.
Given how simple the pattern was, I wish I could say that they came together easily. In truth, I took a fair bit of time figuring out the bottom cuffs and the whole thing required some amount of sewing and then re-sewing. I love the result though–
even though I have got the cuffs backward (i.e the back flap overlaps the front instead of the other way around).
The pattern is ‘pattern c’ and it comes from this book. It’s the first thing I am making from this book, and the pants are on the looser side. I suspect I could have made it in the smaller size (100cms) but oh well…. I love many of the patterns in the book, so something to keep in mind when I make the next thing from this book. The fabric is some lovely ikat, that I am already sad I have no more of.
N quite likes them I think, though she wasn’t willing to say much. But then the plan today was only to wear them for our ‘photo shoot’ and then wear them to school tomorrow. But here she is lounging around in them, so I guess that says something.
What are you sewing these days?
