Remember how I said that I am totally smitten by the patterns from this book?Well, of course I had to make another dress! This one is pattern b (1), and it comes with a few more details than the simple A-line frock of last week.
So box pleats, piping at the neck (both first time for me). Zipper installation went much faster this time too 🙂
I made the largest size 110cms, which is a tad too wide like most Japanese patterns that I seem to use. But I also added 2″ in length, 1 to the bodice and other to the skirt making the dress substantially longer than the last one.
The fabric is cotton on the thin side that I got in Bangalore on Commercial street. N chose the print, and it’s kind of subtle, and perfect for summer. Unfortunately my photos don’t do much justice to it 😦
From what N tells me her favourite part is the button (not surprisingly!) And I am happy with how the flat piping at the next turned out to be. 🙂
So this is all from me for today. I have something in the making which I am looking forward to showing you 🙂 along with some news to share! Bye for now, and hope to ‘see’ you soon again.
What a lovely, summery dress. I love the piping and the yellow ribbon. Piping is always worth the effort, in my opinion.
Thanks Marisa. I love the piping too, and I was surprised that it was not hard as I had imagined it to be. It does add that nice touch doesn’t it?
Really pretty. I like the ripple effect a the hem (I’m sure there’s a name for it, but all I can think of is a fancy pillow slip!)
Thanks Shelly. It’s really amazing what a few small things added to an otherwise simple dress can do. They needed some work and (ahem…) some re-doing but, in the end I liked them too!
